Just in time for Christmas.

Except, I've been trying to peruse the House version of the bill of late (haven't had a lot of time to work on that - helping a hip replacement to take care of eats up your time...)

One thing I'm sure of - it doesn't address the basic problem. Nor does it since it's been revised.

So, what have we really fixed?

It solves two things:

Raises taxes (a Democrat necessity - c'mon, admit it, we've not been paying our fair share here in the upper 50%....we should be paying more to help those who don't want to work and/or pay taxes/come to the US legally/stay out of trouble/not take care of themselves/think they deserve free entitlements -)

and

Spends money in places we could never dream of (a politician necessity)

EDIT: a 3rd thing it does: keeps malpractice insurace at ridiculous rates b/c Washington has yet again failed to address the REAL problem with healthcare in this country....

Personal responsibility?

Explain, please. Are you referring to "personal responsibility" as in someone makes some bonehead mistake and expects someone else to cough up and someone else to fix things, or "personal responsibility" in terms of just thinking and not running to the ER for a sniffle, and learning to deal with mild-to-moderate problems on your own?

One of my two Seantors predicted on the radio that the bill would NOT pass. She stated that provisions between the House version and Senate version are too different.

"There are significant differences between the two bills, including stricter abortion language in the House bill, a new government-run insurance plan in the House bill that's missing from the Senate version, and a tax on high-value insurance plans embraced by the Senate but strongly opposed by many House Democrats." From Associated press
