I got a cheapie dash cam a couple days ago and have been playing with it the past few days. Did some searching on here, pirate and JF before I bought it, couldn't really find any comments on what's good and what's not.
The one I got is a cheap plastic thing from China... $90 from www.gospycam.com it's available a little cheaper on ebay, but this guy ships from the US. Atlanta, I think. I got it 2 or 3 days later, the ebay people were saying 2 weeks with no tracking available.
You can see pics of it on the site, a sample video from mine is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJayynDGr7g For a $90 camera, the quality is surprisingly high.

That's ridiculous...I too have a sign somewhere on my XJ exclaiming, "Please pull out in front of me!"
I like the cam though...nice.

Haha I know... I had am ambulance run so I posted before I finished the post. I like the cam I got, especially for the price. But the mount only has vertical adjustment, so if you have a curved windshield you have to mount it in the center. And it has to be on the windshield, roof or side window wouldn't work.
It records to an SD card, roughly 20-30 minutes per GB. I'm using a 2gb card, but hope to get a 16gb card for Christmas.
So, what setup do you other dashcam users have?

I've got the GoPro camera that I've used on my XJ a couple times, but mostly on my RC's
Here's the only one I've posted, it's not much, just part of the drive to a local 7-11 for a pre work slurpee run.

and for the hell of it, a couple on board, behind the "windshield" vids from my Wheely King and M-03 Mini Cooper:laugh3:

OK, after watching the OP's video, I don't feel so bad that mine ended up at a 7-11

Haha yeah, gotta have my 44oz sodas. Either a Dr Pepper from 7-11 or Cherry Coke from Wawa. I like my cam because it acts like normal dashcam. Starts recording when it has power and keeps recordin by deleting the oldest footage. I got it more for the dashcam feature vs a trail camera. Used it again driving to work in the snow today, I'll upload footage from inside the ambulance if we do anything tonight.

There is only one option on the site. :) The model number on the box, though is "DR-V9".
And, here's a fairly boring clip during my drive to work in the snow storm yesterday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEWZTozXpYg total snowfall in my area was 17" Didn't get anything good driving the ambulance, got cut off by a snowplow, but that footage was recorded over.

I bought a tripod from walmart, removed the legs, bolted it to a suction cup ipod mount I had, and put my kodak 10.2 digital on it...
I can record up to 53 hours with a 4 gb card at the lowest setting, which is still good quality.

I made a bracket out of aluminum flat stock and screwed it to my rear view mirror. then bolted my digi cam to it. Its a $400 camera that does zoomable HD video. Works mind, sound it good and gets some great video during winter snowstorm driving sessions.
you can buy suction cup mounts for not oo much
