check engine light help wanted

Ignition key, no start: key on, key off, key on, key off, key on and leave on.

Now watch the light. It should begin flashing. Each sequence of flashes is one digit of a two digit code. Expect "12" often, for recent battery disconnect, and sometimes even if you haven't. "55" is normal end of sequence and always appears. Any other code is significant. It's not a bad idea to run through twice to make sure you counted right.

Consult this list or post back here for someone to look up the code if it's unique to the Jeep.

Interpreting codes is not always straight forward.

As Matthew mentioned, post the exact code number(s) here for comment before heading to the parts store.
