Jack Ass's! I know most of you don't care about this type of stuff, but look at this BS. Payed $500 for an alarm/remote start, and this is the type of install I get.
Nicked up wiring harness.

Shock sensor zip tied to the steering shaft.

Nicked up shock sensor harness from rubbing on stuff under the dash.

Can't tell cause I've got the knee bolster off, but the antenna wire was not tied up, and fell down hanging under the dash.

They even told me some BS about not having antigrind/starter kill when armed on the unit, and when I read the manual it was decribed how to hook it up. They never hooked up the interier lights to come on when the doors where unlocked. I would have done the install myself to start with, but it voids the warranty if an otherised shop doesn't do it. I would have takenit back, but I don't want their monkey jacking with it after seeing this.

If you're talking about the XJ warranty, it is total BS that it voids the warranty. A law was passed years ago about that. They say that so the dealer gets the work.

What kind of unit was installed?

Well good luck with the rest of it.

That's pretty half-assed. I'd make them fix it. It's no excuse...but i'm sure their thought is that the average person lacks the ability to change their own oil...they're probably not going to be doing their own troubleshooting under the dash.

I don't think i've seen an aftermarket alarm yet that didn't have mickey mouse wiring with it.

Those things are a pain when you're trying to work on the vehicle and keep setting the damn thing off.

But I definitely would take it back. If they eff up the wiring on your XJ some more it's their ass and they gotta get it straight.

Oh I'm going back, but I'm not letting them touch it! I finely got most of cleaned up. What set me off is when somthing started rubbing the brake pedal when I was turning. Thought it was just a zip tie that missed the triming no big deal I've missed them myself, but when I looked under there and found what was done I was hot. After closer inspection I even found the wire for the hood safety pin switch is cut off, and the switch isn't even installed. I'll tell you what if I would happened to be working on something under there, and inadvertly remote started it (with the switch installed it won't start with the hood open), and got hurt they would have a lawsuit on hands. I will at least get some revengefull satifaction out of it. My employer is planning on purchasing five remote starters for door prizes in this years Christmass give away. Guess we'll be getting them somewhere else (I am in charge of finding the best price). I had friend that was planning on getting two systems, and my brother, and I was planning on getting my mother one for Christmas.

Oh, yea I forgot they didn't even use a grommit where they went through the firewall with the siren wiring. Also the warrentie I am refering to is the units not the Jeeps.

With my remote starter starter, if the hood switch isn't installed, the unit will not start at all...... (I did put it in though...just saying if I didn't....)

Before I bought my jeep, an alarm was already put in. Zipties and such, no big deal. I added a remote starter. More than double the wiring as before.....you should see under my dash. I did it as neatly as possible, using zipties. There just isn't enough room under there, and too long of wires to make it look tidy. Just make sure everything is secured and that it works, and it will be fine.

But you're right, they forgot to hook stuff up....that is bad. The wiring doesn't look bad though, besides the fact that they didn't snip the excess ziptie! That always bugs me.

PS - I don't like how they mounted that one module to your steering though, just because it moves....

Also, to the left of the yellow snap on thing on the pink wire, do I see a pinch on it?

Wow talk about getting ass raped. May I ask what brand of unit they installed that cost $500?!? That doesn't look like any DEI unit I've ever seen. Oh, and the anti-grind/starter kill is simply a DPDT (double pole double throw) relay. You can wire it so that it is normally open (preferred) or normally closed. As far as the hood pin is concerned you will find that many installers will simply not take the time to wire it up as well as such options as the valet switch, 2nd stage door unlock, illuminated entry, and sometimes even the status LED. Time is money afterall...and seeing as how they got you for 5 bills they probably want to move as many vehicles as possible. Good luck on this mishap.

It's a Scytek Galixie 5000RS 2W (http://www.scytek.net/product_galaxy_combo_5000RS-2W.html)
I got the antigrind/starter kill wired up, and waiting for a DPDT relay. I thought I had one, but It ended up being a standard SPST with two 87 termanals. It was freaking me out "WTF is wrong here" 'till I noticed it.
I've got the dome light going. and I haven't decided if I want the two stage door locks yet. It will probibly be a pain in the ass to set them up (haven't looked at the FSM to see where I'll need to cut, and splice, but I bet it'll be in the door) sense XJ's never had them from the factory. I want to look at the FSM to see if I can rewire it so just the heater (the way they have it done every thing comes on stereo, power, outlet, ect..) comes on. That leaves me with two outputs that I can set up as momentary, timed or latched. Was thinking of setting one up latched to turn on the lights on the rack. I'm going to get the hood pin from them today so I can hook it up. I don't want it to be able to start with the hood open. I can set the auto start to start every hour, and run for 15 min. That will be nice for winter camping in the Jeep.

Oh, that pinch to the left on the connector is a nick in the wiring harness.
