Super Fetch

Anyone watch super fetch on Animal Planet? I've got this two year old yellow lab that is incredibly smart, fast, and has un-ending energy.

Anyway, I've been watching Super Fetch and these dudes have been doing tricks like having their dogs retrieve tamales and ice cream. I want to come up with a BA trick to teach my dog Allie.
And to add to the Cool factor, I want it to be something to do with off roading. I'm not sure how to get her to spot for me, but something like that would be awesome!

well, until you mentioned offroading - I always thought a cool trick was teaching your dog to get you a beer from the fridge (like Mark Wahlberg's dog in the movie "Shooter"). I guess you could teach her to fetch you different tools from a toolbox (teach her the difference between a screwdriver, hammer, ratchet....).

I always liked the one where the dog gets the beer back from the guy who took it out of your cooler without asking, by biting and hanging from his balls till he gives it back...:D :D :D :D

my friend has a border collie that can get beer, he can even distinguish the different beers even if theyre in no particular order, and he shuts the fridge when hes done.

also if you make a finger gun and say bang he whines, rolls over and plays dead

id say trying to teach it to get tools out of the box is a good dea. id say try simple stuff like hammers screwdrivers cuz i really dont think a dog will be able to get you a 15mm wrench haha

Yeah I thought of that. And the show covered the beer trick and even the tool one. I'm thinking more along the lines of things a dog can do out on the trail. I've been racking my brains on this one.

I thought maybe teaching her to pull a winch cable out of the winch, but I need to get a winch first.

You could teach her to fetch bikini-clad trail bunnies.

Why not teach her to "spot" for you? On command move to the right side of the vehicle and bark three times, then move to the left of the vehicle and bark four times, and repeat on command.

I have an 8 month old white female boxer who taught herself how to drink from a straw, remove screw on bottle caps, and can climb chain link fences.... I taught her to bring me cans of coke from the fridge and she hasn't punctured one yet.

The real trick to that, I suspect, would be teaching the dog to distinguish between the cute ones, and the ones that were just eating too much bacon.
