Title says it all. I saw someone cut open the channel to expose the nuts, but I had an alternate idea I wanted to float out here.

I have 2 x 2 x 1/4 aluminum angle. I was thinking of bolting the bump stop to one leg of the angle and the other up turned part of the angle, bolting to the side of the channel using 3/8 - 16 fasteners.

Does this sound doable. My rig is not currently being used for off road other than gravel roads and pavement.

My logic is that if I hit the bump stop, the pressure should be straight up against the stop.

Why not just drill and retap?

sometimes you can smack them hard with a punch and the nuts will pop loose inside. You can then just replace them with nuserts.

Or do what I am going to do and just weld a plate to the bottom of the body and put the bolt holes to the side of the rail instead of up through it.
