05 Skidoo Summit Highmark X. 1000 cc 180 HP twin, 163 x 2.25" track.

It's a very large sled with far more capabilities than I have at the moment. Who needs the gym, ride this beast!

Heh heh......... Jon goes snowmobiling for the first time in 10 or so years and apparently he's hooked! :D

I can't imagine that sled was cheap........ looks like a blast though! 1000 CC's on the snow...... insane! :looney:

I had an 05 800 144. That thing pulled hard at full throttle. I can't imagine how that 1000 will be. Get ready for sore shoulders!

Probably about the same- the extra 200 cc's might make up for the weight.

I've been pondering getting something for a few years, everything just sort of fell into place with this one.

Looks hella fun dude! I stay away from snow mobiles though... ever since my wife and I wrecked one on our "romantic" Valentine's Day trip to the Glenwood Springs hot springs a few years back.

1500 less than what the prior owner paid for it, then he put 1000 into mods.
That's all I'm saying.

Put another 80 miles on it today- minus 7 when we got down to the truck.

Jawa, what was the incident?

I got to go snowmobiling up in Montana a couple years ago, and had an absolute blast! And that was on anemic rental sleds!

I would love to go out and do it again.

Congrats on the toy!

Update. The one pictured above blew the engine, seized the big end of the PTO side rod.
So I have moved on to this.

I've been on snowmobiles exactly 2 times and both times I rolled them. They were fun but I'll stick to really big tires and chains on a Jeep.

That new one will be one fast ride, but how well will it handle with that long of a track?

JJacobs

It's more of a deep powder machine. It'll go fast if you want and ride smooth on the trails but that's not really its purpose.

So I don't get it. It'll go really fast, but its not made to. It'll ride nice and smooth on trails, but its not meant to. What the hell is the point?

The really long track makes it look like a hill-climb machine or 100mph cruiser of open terrain. You sled jockeys are weird. Give me 4wheels, a steering wheel, and a clearly defined purpose. :D

The point is the mountains, period. It's kinda hard to go 100 mph across open terrain unless it's a packed trail or solid spring snow. Nothing weird about it, you just apparently don't understand the dynamics much. Short track = speed and no float. Long track = float and not as much speed.

Makes sense I guess. I admittedly don't know squat about snowmobiles. The longer track just reminds me of hill climb dirtbikes or drag bikes.

So this is more of a mountain cruiser, trail carver? Kind of like a 4wd Polaris instead of a Banshee?

We usually go to the Snowy Range in Wyoming. There are main roads all over- the paved highway which isn't maintained in winter, Jeep roads, etc. Thing is on a sled it's perfectly legal to peel off the trail and go absolutely anywhere you want to. See a nice untracked bowl or some good steep tree lines, dive right in. The long track is great for climbing but it also helps cruising around in 4 feet of pow which has happened a couple times already this year. The short tracks will usually just get instantly buried off trail in that kind of snow.

Cool man. Nice to learn new things, I've always thought snow mobiles are sweet abut I've never had good luck on them. I tend to go too fast for my own good and then try and make a tight turn because I'm almost out of road. :D
