My mood today >:explosion

So, I'm a freshman at Humboldt State University, part of the California State University system. Love the area.

But this school has been screwing me. I love it, but hate the administration.

A)My first day at orientation in august, they tell me I withdrew admission, and that I've missed deadlines so I can't attend. They flat out said sorry, next person in line. :thumbdn:

First off, I was already moved in, living with my sister, 300 miles away from home!!! Why would I withdraw?
And what deadlines? The finished ones?
1. Math Placement- Took it that day(before being told this B.S.)
2. Orientation fees- Already paid.
3.High school transcript- Already sent in june.

They blamed me, and after running around trying to talk to people, 5 hours later, finally it was resolved.

Why bring this up? It happened AGAIN.

B) Today, at 9:30, was my time to do online registration , to sign up for 3 classes that were almost full. I NEED these, this semester, for my major, Environmental Science.

Long story short. They put a hold on my record. I can't sign up. All my classes filled up. NOT OK.

They lost my transcript. How could I have registered last time, if I didn't have it? They lost it. My high school is resending a hard copy, because humboldt won't accept a fax. :gonnablow

Im just hoping I can clear this up. As of now, I just have to wait for the snailmail to deliver the letter. We go in tomorrow to raise hell. I'm being very calm but I'm about to freak out.

Missing these classes in the spring will cause me to take an insane amount of credits next fall, so this can't stand.

This aggression won't stand... man.

Sorry to hear this Sean, hang in there...the same thing happened to my cousin at SF State who came up here from San Diego. If the facts are in your favor it should work out.

If you make enough noise in enough places you can make anything happen. Thats how I got into the Calc 2 class I needed. I had to go back and forth between 2 offices playing a Dean off the specific teacher whose class I wanted, but It worked.

Make and keep a copy of EVERYTHING, I say again, EVERYTHING, that you submit to any of the admin. type offices at your school. Have the desk monkey who takes it from you sign and date the copy you keep. That won several battles for me while in school.

x2 on keeping records on EVERYTHING.

Make sure you record dates, times and who you talked to. The college I went to used Grad students in the Fin Aid office. Ugh.

Certified mail, email, signatures. Takes notes then ask the person if they'll sign their name to it.

COPIES.

Why is it state universities are like that, my daughter attended two years at Temple, deans list for 4 semesters, 4.0GPA, she transfers to ESU and moves home, starts taking courses and they start not accepting what she took at the better school. OK, she starts getting signed up for the spring semester, this is her third semester at ESU, and they come up with she has to take a basic english course that she took at temple 3 years ago and they accepted the first go round. Bottom line is she will end up attending an extra 2 years because of the asshats at ESU.
