I have a '96 xj classic and was wondering what the widest tallest tire I could use with no rubbing on LCAs or inner fender. I want a meaty tire look that is really functional off road until I can get my 4.5"

30's are said to fit without much problems.. youd need to adjust the steering stops to keep them off the LCA's though.. a 235 would fit the bill nicely.. and it may save a few bucks since they are going to be temporary tires...

10.50 is the farthest wide you can go without rubbing hard at full turn.... run 10.50 and put 2 washers in

I have 30 x 9.5 on my '96 with stock suspension and only get a little rubbing when I make hard turns in either direction - I have not adjusted my travel stops.

all depends on how much you want to cut, I put some 33x12.5x15 ssr's on 10" wide wheels under a rig with stock springs on it. then cut off anything that would rub :D

235/75/15 wont rub at full turn or full flex...

that measures out to a

28.8" tall tire
by
9.25" wide
on
15" rim...

youre fine

Yes - they are on the factory aluminum rims. I have had no troubles with them. I am using the BFG t/a k/o series tires and they look nice and beefy for a 30 inch tire. OK, not as beefy as say those 37s that some are running - but I don't have a lift.

My XJ has the Up Country suspension which lifts it 1-1.5in over standard. I had 30x9.5 BFG ATs on my 97, only rubbed control arms at full lock. Now I am running Firestone Destination MT 31x10.50s I had to cut some of the left bumper end cap, but you can't see where it was trimmed. The back tires rub on the bottom rear of the flares and I had to fold over part of the body seam. It sounds bad when they hit, but it doesn't really affect the articulation.

If you've already got 235s on there, I wouldn't waste money going only to a 30" since there's only a 1" gain (0.5" ride height) - get the 4.5" lift installed and shell out that money you've saved for some bigger tires

I have some 29"x11.5s on my 96 xj and there is definately rubbing at stock height which just means I have to lift the jeep 2" and that should do the trick.
