Dood......... the majority of the Jeeps in the junk yards from the Cash for Clunkers deal are in much nicer shape than the rigs many of us drive daily.......

Colorado Auto Salvage yard off of Santa Fe and Ratcliff have close to 10 97+ with 8.25 under them still. I think they wanted $150 but I don't recall exactly. Take some boots though...its a mud pit right now. Yella is right, some of those rigs are in great shape...8.25's on them still look clean and purdy.

Ok I have a date - next Thursday night I will begin the swap... so I would say you could come get it Thursday night around 6 oclock. Or anytime after that which is convenient for ya

8.25's are hard to give away, I sold one on ebay after having it posted here and colorado4x4 for a long time, it sold for $1.00 then the last one I had I just took to the scrap yard I might have got a few bucks out of it. Unless your just in a big need of one I would wait around a bit and pick one up for a few bucks. If your going to take the time to pull one I would get an 8.8 instead. Just an idea....

Is a '97+ 8.25 much better than my '93 axle? I know it has 2 more splines, but is the axle shaft diameter any larger?
If it's a substantial upgrade, i'd give $100 for it.

Welcome Mike!!
Yes the 2 additional splines make for a stronger axle and the 29 spline shafts are larger.
