I was moving the vacuum canister into the engine bay and the tube connected to it broke in three places. Do I need the canister, and where can i get new tubing for it?

your local parts store sells the tubing by the foot, get some, that is for your cruise control and your heater controls. With out it, you will only have defroster. Tubing is real cheap, and if it broke that easy, get several foot of it, and replase all that looks bad.

Just a tip. The early (ie. 85) Xj's had a nice metal can that has the fittings and one way valve and has nice mounting brackets. It works great for relocating. You should be able to find it in almost any junk yard

I moved mine behind the crossmember, slightly on the drivers side. Just got like a foot and a half of vacuum line to extend it.....it just slid into the existing line (was a slightly smaller diameter) and then I got a connector to hook it onto the plastic canister. Works great!
