Oops... I had been posting in the SE Chapter thread. I'm guessing I should've posted here? Thanks... Begin the copy/pasting!!

It's about time to take the Corrado off of the road for the winter. Starting to need a new TOB, and the head gasket and timing chains could use a refresh. So, I'm actively looking for an XJ now. My budget is about $1K, and I need something daily driver kind of reliable. It doesn't need to be lifted or anything, just rust free or having only minimal rust. After the initial purchase, I'm not really going to have any funds for immediately required labor, but I am handy with a wrench so I'll be doing the work.
Here's where I get picky...
I would prefer something no older than an '89. Certainly not in a 5-speed if it is older than that. No desire for the Peugot. After that... 5 speed or auto is just fine with me.
4 Wheel drive is almost a requirement, unless the deal is just unbeatable.
2 doors or 4... doesn't make a difference to me.

So, thanks for any help. I've been haunting the forums for a little while now, and it looks like ya'll have a nice little community. I'm pretty eager to be able to post a 'My new XJ' thread, so how about some help? Thanks guys.

Welcome, and good luck in your search.

Your requirements are pretty tough to meet, but not impossible. There have been great deals out there...you just need to find one.

Craigslist.com has some deals...maybe check there and any local Jeep club websites. Word of mouth with friends and family couldnt hurt.

Again....good luck.

Yep. I've been hovering over the close-by Craigslists, and all of the local listing sites that I can think of. I really need to just take a drive up and down some of these long country highways. It seems like every 3rd car parked near the street is for sale.

Hmm.. sounds like a solid deal. I'm unable to make any major road trips to check out prospects these days. With work, midterms, and general lack of funds, I just can't afford to get far out of town right now. If for any reason, I find myself up that way in the near future, I will definitely track you down. Thanks.

Thanks for the link, brokexj. I have contacted them. If it's a cooling issue that I can fix on the spot, that may be a real contender.
