The only thing I can say other than congrats and thanks, is that I wish you hadn't gotten it in the first place.

So whats the story?

Cool you got it! Shame you got hurt.

story goes as follows: on 25 sept 2006 i and 6 coworkers were walking between our clamshell hangars on the airfield on our way to lunch. we had just cleared from between the hangars when we hard a loud "whoomp!" then as we were hitting the ground i felt something sting my arm. we all got up to run as we heard more rounds impacting, and i turned to make sure that no one got left behind when i saw one of our coworkers on the ground trying to get up and move. i went back, grabbed him, and proceeded to drag him across the flight line and on the other side of the concrete barriers. i also did basic first aid until the medics arrived.

wounds i received was one small laceration on my left arm, and another laceration above my right eyebrow. most of us just got minor bumps, bruises, and lacerations. two guys got evacced to landstuhl, but they will be back in another couple of months.

you can read a writeup on it at:

Kris, glad to hear there were no fatalities from this attack, and that you were able to get your buddies out of harms way. Most of us have no idea what it's like to be in combat and have your life on the line every day, thanks for your sacrifice and dedication.

Kris - 'congrats' is an awkward term to use for a Purple Heart, but good on ya for looking out for your buddy.

i guess a congrats on a purple heart is kinda backwards but glad your ok and thanks for everything you do  stay safeYou are wrong about it being backwards. It took YEARS for some of us to get awarded the Purple Heart after some very difficult campaigns.

Ladywolf, hopefully you will get stateside soon enough to spend the holidays with your family. We got your back, go safely! :us:

Not necessarily Congrats. But definately a Thank you.....

You put the welfare of those you are protecting above your own welfare. For that, there can never be enough thanks.

That you were wounded, however minor, in doing that duty deserves to be recognized. But I have always thought the PH was more of a "thank you for being so selfless" rather than a congradulatory thing.

Either way.....

Thank you.

wounds i received was one small laceration on my left arm, and another laceration above my right eyebrow.Well that sucks! If I ever met you I was going to ask to see your scars. ;)

Left arm and right eyebrow, for that I'll just have to buy you a beer.

In my line of work the term "be safe" is daily and I think that also holds true for you. Do so....and that's an order!
