found a exploded view of rear oil pan area. the 1999 4.0 appears to have a rear oil pan support does this go on the outside of the pan to the rear?

yes it goes on the outside of the pan
think of it as motor block, gasket, pan, "support brace" (moon shaped)

thank you, no mention of this part anywhere! found a view in my jeep factory parts manual. some things fall thru the cracks at jeep.
