Finally got my latches! First vendor screwed around for a week before feeding me some B.S. about the latch no longer being made anywhere by anyone. I ordered from another vendor right after Thanksgiving and they shipped the following Monday.
I'm going to weld the barrel to a couple of gussets on the bumper in this position so that the plunger goes into the open end of the main tube on the swing out.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g138/FrankZ_2006/New%20Bumper/IMG_3883.jpg
A simple pull on the handle retracts the plunger allowing the carrier to swing open.

Hey frank, have you considered adding a mount of some sort to hook it into your roof rack? Nothing major, just to help keep the tire from bouncing around much. It looks good overall, but with the tire that high I would be a little concerned with the leverage it puts on your mount and hinge.
Good work though, not trying to sound overly critical.

Bo...you're an idiot! There's a right way and a wrong way to handle the wimminz.
The conversation should've went like this...
Bo: Honey, looky at what I found! Frank Z. built an awesome rear bumper!!
Mrs. Bo: No!
Bo: But Honey-bunches-o-luvin'....this thing is saw-wheat!!
Mrs. Bo: No!!
Bo: Now schnukums....this thing would look freakin' amazing opposite the front bumper we bought from him!
Mrs. Bo: No!!!
Bo: But darlin'....this thing looks almost as good as your "Bumper"!!
Mrs. Bo: Oh my!!! :o...........Go get it stud-muffin!!
(My wife gave me permission to post this reply....)

lol that is great! I told her she could go spend the equal amount wherever she wanted. Sad thing is if the funds were there, she would let me in a heart beat cause she is great like that. Just a crap time of the month.

Well I want one in June/July.So hopefully you will be willing to build one then. Ill def. have monies then. I'll pay before hand if need be.
Wife is graduating college in May so I have to save till then so I can get her something really awesome for graduating. Then after that, my rear is going to def. going to need a FrankZ enhancement.
