A search in the tech board brought up quite a few threads, i'm sure you can find your answers to your questions.. and maybe more info that you didnt think of yet. Good Luck.

might depend on the calipers as 2 styles were used.
with one of the styles i did an install on, 15" wheels with 3.25" backspacing barely cleared

The caliper mounting is the same but I am pretty sure if need be i can just grind the top of the caliper. What is the back spacing on the 10 spoke factory wheels?

should be 5.25"

smaller, earlier teaves calipers will barely clear high BS 15" wheels. you'll need 16" to clear the bigger akebonos.

why wouldn't shaving the calipers down and reinforcing work? just wondering

You can shave the akebonos down, I saw a thread where someone did it.
You won't be able to use stock 15" wheels without wheel spacers using either caliper styles.

that was what I was looking for....think its time to go to 33s and steel beadlocks.
