I thought I would post this up since I had not seen it done on here. This is my son's 96 that use to be my trail rig. I had cut the fenders so the stock 96 bumper and caps would no longer look good. We decided to try a 97+ bumper and caps on it and it looks dang good if you ask me!

The mounts are the same and the end caps bolt onto the bumper so it'll bolt right on. You'll have to cut the front of the fender flat with the turn signal so it doesn't interfere with the end cap.

The silver paint makes it. Looks sweet.

Nice looking trail rig..I like the bumper
It was my old trail rig, I tore it apart to build my new trail rig and decided to put it back together with junk yard parts for my son who just turned 16. It sat on blocks with no axles, T-case or skid plates for about a year. This 96 just turned over 100k and is in really too good of shape to wheel it hard.
Thanks for the compliments.
Yes the bumper is bolt on. I couldn't put a stock 96- bumper on because I had cut the fenders/flares. I got a deal on the 97+ bumper/caps and thought I would give it a try. Much cheaper than a aftermarket bumper.

Nice bumper! :wave1:
Thanks Glenn! I did end up buying brand new "aftermarket" smooth end caps so I didn't have to sand all of the texture out of the others, it saved me a lot of time and the new caps/fairing were only $70 from a local body shop supplier.
Thanks for the deal on the bumper!
