I was getting gas in Orem yesterday(the station on 1600n and 1200w) and as I was filling, I noticed that there was a hundred dollar bill, in a promotion box atop of the gas pump.. was not a "My name is ________, I have cancer" type thing, just for that companies CC.. anyone could grab it, I did not, really did not even think about taking it,(even tho 100$ could go ALONG way for me right now) But just got me to wondering.....

Discuss................

As stated in my first post, I did NOT take it, my thought was even tho I am destitute, maybe someone more "broke" would come along and find it, you know to be able and buy formula thats needed, diapers, keep their home gas on a month or two longer..

Who, am I kidding, some crack whore found it and paid her pimp off...:anon:

LOL Jeremy. Obviously the owner wanted it in there because I've seen those boxes and it took some effort to put there. Now if I would take it or not depends on how many cars were at the station or not :)

I'm a big believer in Karma or something of the sort. I don't steal and rarely do I have things stolen from me. I say well done, Jeremy!

X2, stealing sucks. It's low, cheap, petty, and the lazy man's way. That's why I would have gone the "Dumb and Dumber" route and left an I.O.U. in there. "That, my friend, is just as good as money!" :D

Now stealing is a totally different subject. This bill he was talking about was out on the pump in the little thin they try and offer credit cards with, unless i read it wrong. Somone just didn't drop it on the ground, they had to of intentionally put it there.....

Ooohhhh... I get it now. That is strange. I wonder if they put it there and forgot about it. If that were the case, you could always turn it in, although I'm sure the gas station would just drop it into the register.

Here's my thought though....Why put it there?? I dont go walking around stuffing $100 dollar bills into strange places and intend to come pick them up later...

Clint, it was in a little plastic 5 sided box with NO top, had little business size cards with the info about getting their credit card, you could put all you fingers in there. someone had placed it in there, I truly hope the person who took it(got it) really needed it. I told Shell about it this morning, and she freaked , asking me WHY I did not take it....

Now, if was just laying on the ground, thats a different story(losers weepers thing):D:D

Ive seen them. Though I've never seen one with a $100 bill in one. As to pick it up or not... I couldn't say. Because when you actually get out there..it's a tough choice..for me at least. I as well hope somone who picked it up needed it. Although somone driving a new bmw or something probaly picked it up.

Thats my guess too..

Shell reminded me that I have this problem, a few months ago I went to wash the XJ off, and there was a stack(6 or 7) quarters left on the little slot/wash/rinse/spot free shelf, I left them there:dunno: I had the change I needed..

Pay it forward I guess....

The thought is, it was not a "donation jar", just a simple box.......

I'll say it, If the person did leave it for a helping hand, or a thoughtful gesture of all he/she has, not that that person will ever read this, but thanks!..

I felt better just thinking of THAT type of gesture...

I would have taken it in to the cashier. I do the same with gas caps, keys, and anything larger than a dollar. Some day that will be my "lost" money and I'll go back for it.

Where it was placed, and how it was folded, it was left for someone(not a drug thing). I feel it was not left for me, and I hope the right person got it!

Why deny it Jeremy? You know God or maybe the microchip at the base of your neck told you to leave it for someone that really needed it.

Sounds like he could use some brains. Or...he could use another wife who would watch the checking account a little closer.

ha ha ha, I have sympothy for people that make mistakes, and try to fix them but if you are not going to keep track of your money and expect someone else to take care of your habits for you, I have no problem charging them. If you never get hit, you will never know that you dont want it to happen again.

My rule of thumb is: if I can return the money to whoever it belongs to I do it. Never turn found cash into the cops or the store, tell them you found some and who to contact if someone comes looking for it. This is a little different here and I think you did the right thing Jeremy. Not to say that the very next person to come along did not take it but that is on their conscience now. All of which reminds me that I found $80 or $100 at Fall Fling and just about got out of town with it before before I found the rightful owner...hehehe. I cant even remember who it belonged to but it was one of our own and I was glad to give it back to him!
