Well I took the Heep in to get the tires balanced and rotated. Two of the wheel hub studs got stripped. So now Im looking at $40 in labor and parts costs. Problem is I keep thinking "SHIT something else is going to break" and then Ill own even more money.

So pray to the Jeep god for me that nothing else breaks and leaves me having to call off on getting my stroker.

Did they strip the studs? That would mean they should pay for the fixin' not you. And how do you strip wheel studs taking the wheels off? It sounds like a impact happy mechanic was putting your wheels back on.

Well I said I havent taken the wheels off for the year Ive had the tires on. They told me the only way to strip a stud is if you remove it wrong. I dont think there is a wrong way to remove a lug nut? But they said all this mumbo jumbo like they cant garantee a 18year old stud will survive a impact wrench. I know someone over tightened it, but just gave up. So far I havent got any calls, so eiher nothing went wrong, or they havent started on it.

I asked if I dropped it off by 7:30 if they could garantee it would all be done by 3:00. So Im still just hopping its alright. I feel so naked right now because I dont have my keys with me.

Call them and tell them you want the old parts back. Sounds fishy to me.

My wifes car got a stud replaced on a new tire job. Wanted $60 to replace 1 stud! I got on the phone and conversed with a manager and ended paying $20 anyway. Then, last week I go to change rotors and cant the bolts loose, but did see the new stud. Cant figure how they changed it with taking that plate loose :eyes: But, they did. I think some short bus rider had the dam gun in wrong direction torqued it though.

Or hit it with a 600ft-lb impact gun set in the wrong direction. Hell I've broke 1/2" breaker bars trying to loosen VW wheel bolts.......Never stripped a stud before.

Well it cost me $60 on the dot. I shoul dhave just went to the stealership, they quoted me $40 for the same job.

But now I have two new studs, and two new lug nuts, and my tires rotated and balanced. Thank jeep the rotation and balancing was free since I bought the tires from them.

I did cheer myself up by going and getting me a 1000lbs engine stand and had fun assembleling it. I looks so pretty in my work area. Not a big area but the rent is free and free storage once Im off to college. I have five months to get the stroker build and broken in before I pack up for school.

What kind of bolts should I use to attach the block to the stand? Havent figure that out yet...

Free is such a nice word though but I guess its not always worth it. Ill still go to them for tires, because there prices are pretty damn nice. This is really the second time they screwed me. Charged me $50 to tighten my steering box, when all I asked them to do was to find the clunking noise. So I had to pay for a bolt and a couple turns of a wrench. Maybe it is just time to leave them. *rubs chin*

This is the smartest thing you've said so far. I wish you good luck on building that stroker, if you can't find a clunck in the front end. Hopefully, your engine building skills are better than your noise locating one.

Seriously, I do wish you goo luck in your stroker build. If I had it to do over again, that would have been the first mod.

This was when I first bought the car and a FSM. Id like to say Ive learned alot about vehicles since my first ride. Also the clunk fix and tires were a present so wasnt that bad since it didnt cost me anything.
