New Xj owner

:anon:Just picked up my first Xj. I have had a wrangler for about 10 years but decided I didnt want to be wet and muddy anymore.

I will start building as soon as I sell my Yj. My plans are 37 ish tires, 44 front, 60 rear, probably welded front and rear. I have a friend that builds suspensions so we will build whatever we need and I plan on having to take a sawzall to some sheetmetal.

I know nothing about these Jeeps so anything anyone tells me I really appreciate.

Try and find a 99.
It sounds like you are changing axles so I wont bother telling you what you should look for there...


The guys on here are all pretty nice, but be sure to search before asking a question. There is tonnes of info on here already, so use it to your advantage.

No.

The 98 has the high pinion d30.

99+ has the low pinion.

But if you are swapping out axles that doesn't amount to anything.

If you are planning on running a 44 and a 60 its a good idea to plate the unibody, no sense in having strong axles and having them mounted to a weak uni/frame.

Exactly, I was just saying that it would likely have less miles on it.
