Question for Mainers

I was wondering where the placement of exhaust tailpipes is legal for this state. The only rule/law I've found is your exhaust must be intact with no leak's. I'd like to run the exhaust out from under the rear passenger door in front of the tire, Would I still pass inspection and keep the Troopers at bay?

I believe you have to have it exit rear of the passenger compartment. that being said, i was thinking of doing that too, but i think it would get smashed on rocks. its gonna hand pretty low, considering you have to go under the unibody.
