does a 117amp alternator from a 97+ fit in a 90amp 96- XJ>?

basically just want to know.. i've gotten mixed info

does a 117amp alternator from a 97+ XJ drop into a pre 97 90amp without any grinding or belt size difference?

I would say check them out side by side. I believe the newer one has a different connector on it, but not sure. Belt-wise it should be fine.

Last time I checked, the part number for a 96 117 amp alternator and a 98 117 amp alternator were the same at Advance & Autozone.
