So I got a free 95 4.0l from a friend to use the block as a stroker project. I knew from the start it was blown and had alot (300+) miles on it and had been hydro locked and then ran with water in the oil.

Started this past weekend disassembling it and this is what I found...

Removed the valve cover and found this (pic taken after digging the rocker bolts and head bolts out)...

I then got the head off and the top of the pistons looked ok but #6 intake valve has seen better days

I got it up on the motor stand and flipped it over and got the oil pan off

The metal ended up being the #6 connecting rod

Amazing it didn't throw that rod through the side of the block.

I know I'm really happy about that. that cylinder seams to be in really good shape too. Still getting bored .040 over :)

Looks good.

J/k.

I wonder what my motor looks like with only 140k?

If there is someone in your area that does magnafux or whatever I'd have them check that block. Took a bit of force to bust that rod. I'd hate to see you put all that time and money in it to end up with a cracked cyl...

Just sayin'

Very similar to the 4.0 that I was given by a local wheeler to rebuild. I ended up trading it for a good 0630 cylinder head.

Yep, that 4.0 came out of a 2000 WJ and had a 0331 head on it, it was definetly cracked. The block was in good shape though.
