I don't like to subscribe for the story, but one of Jeep's suppliers isn't sending parts.

Dark days my friends. Dark days...

A parts shortage is forcing Chrysler Group LLC to close its Toledo Supplier Park facility that makes the Jeep Wrangler (http://www.naxja.org/forum/#) for the week of Oct. 5, affecting about 525 workers.

edit:
DETROIT, Oct 2 (Reuters) - Chrysler Group LLC said on Friday it will idle production of its Jeep Wrangler SUV for a week starting Monday due to part shortages from an unidentified supplier...

I thought the big three would have learned from the strikes in the '90 that there is a downside to "just in time" part delivery.

Oh well, "Those who don't learn from history,.... "

can't remember, something about "doom"

IIRC the problem is that the supplier is still trying to catch up to Chrysler's need for parts in this case. Now with the new LX cars, Grand Cherokee, and Durango, Daimler is screwing with Chrysler on some of their parts that those models will need because Chrysler doesn't want to buy as many of the diesels from Daimler that had been planned on prior to the economic crash of last year because of a lack in demand for new vehicles in Europe during this recession/depression.

Daimler is no longer part of Chrysler

No, but they are still supplying parts for the 300, CHarger, Challenger, and the upcoming Grand Cherokee and Durango since all those are based on Mercedes products.

Rumor is, steering boxes, seems to be a big shortage, one wrangler owner up here has had his 09 deadlined for going on two months now waiting for one.

Rumor is, steering boxes, seems to be a big shortage,...Wow! A real hi-tec component. Does Jeep use Saginaw boxes on the JK?

No clue, but when it's under warranty it does not matter unless you want to pay out of pocket.
