From everything I read here (talk of the center pin fitment etc. , perch measurement, pictures [members and commercial packs too]) I figured the shims go on the bottom of the pack .. which is where I put mine - and they raised the pinion just like they were supposed to.
So I'm flipping through the FSM today and damn if they aren't supposed to go under the mounting pad at the top of the pack.
Is there a reason for this divergence?
Idle thought: might this contribute to why people have problems with aluminum shims?
