Hello everyone
I am new to this board so bear with me .
I have an 88 MJ 2wd with the 2.5 l 4banger and the TBI injection.
I picked the truck up pretty cheap , It had a fire under the hood and all of the wiring and the TBI went up in smoke.
I recently replaced the wiring and tbi from an 89 MJ.
The problem I have now is that It wont run. I have no spark or fuel pump it will turn over OK but thats it . I also do not have working turn signals or Idiot lights ( except for the water temp light) can anyone give me an Idea where to start looking?
could this be the ecu?. I was going to try and check the fuel pump relay but I cannot find it, any ideas where to look? and the coil has no voltage to it at all
TIA
for any help you can lend

Fuel pump relay is in the relay bank on the passenger side fender, behind the battery. There should be an oblong fiberboard cover over the relays, but if there weas a fire that's probably gone.
Both the '88 and '89 also have a ballast resistor in the fuel pump circuit. This is the white-ish ceramic thingie mounted to the driver's side fender, behind the air cleaner box. There should be two heavy wires connected to it. You can by-pass this as a test -- just jumper the two terminals together.
How's the CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor)? I don't know if a bad CPS would eliminate all power to the coil, but it's a likely guess. The CPS wires come up the back of the engine on the droiver's side and then go through a weatherpak type connector and into the ECU. The CPS wiring could easily have been damaged in an engine fire.

I have replaced the CPS and the air temp sensor, as far as the ballast resitor I do not have one on mine I have an extra set of wires , a plug conector with four wires but i figured that was an optional plug for cruise or something . I do have some other conectors near the windshield washer bottle But I think they are for the washer pumps and water sensor
Do you have any idea which relay is for the FP I have two.
and unfourtunatly no wiring Diagrhams

if you've got absolutely NO juice to the coil, check the yellow wire leading to it, that should go hot when the ignition switch is in run (regardless of anything else, there should be power when it's on)
if that is not hot, there is a thick red wire going to the ignition switch under the column, this should be hot ALL the time. if it's not getting power, trace it back to the starter relay and it will go into a fuselink. most likely, this fuselink blew when the wiring melted. replace it and try again.
I had this happen to me about a week ago (not the fire, but the same power problem) only I blew it after swapping a 4.0L in ;)
Good luck. this one bothered me for a while until I got it straightened out
btw, the correct fuselink should be one that has only one thick red wire coming off of it (you'll understand when you look at it and see like 4 fuselinks going to 10 red wires... it's a mess to decipher  )

Thanks for the reply .I finaly figured it all out.
The only two wire conectors that can be conected wrong where.
I had the wrong ones pluged in on the pass side fender well near my relays once I swaped them out I finaly got the thing started.
Thanks again for the help
