hey man, welcome to the board
i guess im kinda near you, bout an hour SW, we played you guys in Lacrosse a while back, got killed and never have since heh
sadly there arent many legal places to go up here.
there are a few parks, there one in the appilacians about 2 hours north of me, a couple in PA and a couple in CT
theres probably some local trails, if you see some other guys with jeeps flag em down and ask em where they wheel, most jeep guys are friendly as hell and are more than willing to bring another guy along

Hey, I am not very far from you. Most of the places I know about are a couple hours from me, but I am constantly looking for more places.

I know Harriman. I used to love cruising through there back in my VW days. I would be interested in checking out the trails that you know.

I may have found a legal place to wheel in New York that's worth going to. I want to verify that it's legal with the proper authorities before I mention any more than that, but I talked with another Jeep guy today and it sounds like it's a good place to go. I'll keep everyone posted.

Paine Hill is northeastern CT, and Lakeview is southeastern.

Hey I'm from Carmel, now in Albany, you should go and check out JD's offroad I thik its in Brewster. They would probably know if there are any clubs there or where to wheel, not many places though that I remember.

how is that Paine hill, thats only about 2.5 hours from me. seems like it could be a pretty good two day trip if a couple of guys went.
how are the trails there, any good?

[lurkmodeoff] Paine Hill is a nice mild-moderate forest road type ride, only a couple of obstacles, one is a stream crossing- mud/waterhole combination, the next is some rocks to go over, a stock xj could make it driven intelligently.....I would suggest hooking up with a localclub that does regular runs, or getting someone who knows the trail well to take you, there are a lot of turn offs that can put you on private property.
