What do you guys recommend in terms of lockers for the front and rear for your climate? I'd rather not make changes every year as the weather changes so I'm guessing something selectable.

I won't be crawling much, just basic exploration - but I do want to be able to make it up to Estes from Denver when it's snowing.

THanks for the input.

I am open/open and would have no issuses getting from Denver to Estes when it is snowing unless it was a REALLY bad storm. The majority of all trails and snowy times in Colorado will not require a locker.

Yeah, I realize it's not necessary, but if I were to lock it up, what might you guys suggest would be best for the weather you get?

Provided money isn't and issue, the best locker for snowy climates, is ALWAYS going to be selectable, in my opinion. Price is really the only Con when it comes to a selectable Locker. You can either have a spool or be open, with the flip of a switch. I had planned on doing front and rear ARB's, but i'm impatient and wanted a locker ASAP, so I did an Aussie in the rear. I will however be doing an ARB up front.

haha, your way? I've been planning to move up there for a couple of years. It's why I bought the Jeep in the first place. Simply fell in love with the area north of Denver. Oddly enough, I started dating a girls here a few months before she moved to Denver.... That and alot of other wierd stuff has been pointing me in the direction for a few years.

As for selectable, I know I'll be keeping the Jeep for years with the same axle so I'm prepared to invest some money into a selectable. I know their not all the same though, what's recommended for the snow/slush?

Basically the only noticable difference is method of actuating the locker. There is Air (ARB), there is Electric (E Locker), and there is Cable (Ox). I have no experience with any of them, but always hear good stuff about ARB, and have heard quite a bit of good stuff about OX. I have heard, the airlines are vulnerable in the ARB (I will encase them when I install mine). I have heard the OX cable setup can be finicky, but if set up properly works great. I haven't heard much abou the E-Locker. Again this is all hearsay, with no personal experience. As far as traction goes, they are all going to perform the same in snow/slush.

Colorado raptor loves his ox in the rear. Locked only sucks in wet conditions off camber I think. Otherwise the improved trAction is great.

as long as you are a little carefull when driving in slippery conditions a full time is ok

I have lived here since 1967 and have rarely ever had any issues with getting to Estes on a regular basis using my 2wd cars with all weather radials.

Had an Ox up front...It sucked festering monkey nuggets.

Installed half dozen or so ARB's, seen a few (not mine) fail, usually due to crap in the airlines or compressor tank, blown seals.

Wheeled with some folks that had Auburn ECTED's installed, those things are a waste of money.

Drove on a Powertrax No-Slip through a few winters, never had any problems with it on snow or ice. Ya just gotta remember that it's there.

Rolling Eaton E-Lockers front and rear...luvin' 'em

I have seriously thought about doing the E-Locker up front, Hell maybe I still will, who knows.
