I installed a cd player in 1996 xj I know the fm part works but not in this jeep I did hook up the antenna wire but it does not pick up any stations
any ideas how to get to replace the antenna wire

To replace the antenna wire you need to unplug it from the stereo (obviously) then from the outside take off the antenna and then there is a tool used to take off the base part that in mounted to the fender but pliers will work and the wire will be connected to that and just retrace it into the cab and repeat the steps to the new one on. You may need to take the fender liner off as well. Hope this is what you are asking. Good luck.

It's also possible that it got disconnected somewhere along the line. Check in the passenger side kick panel.
