Anybody here convert a lot of photos/negatives to digital? I'm looking at getting a scanner to do a bunch of old film laying around. Recommendations?

Last time I did it I spent $$$ on a Minolta film scanner. Had great resolution and the stuff turned out awesome. Granted, this was almost 10 years ago...and even the 'cheapie' ones I see nowadays produce better quality images than that one.
Anymore I just use a macro lens on my digital camera and mount the slide on a light table. Nothing to dink around with. There are specific kits for doing that, but I haven't looked into them in a while. If you have a digi SLR that might be an option for you.

I've got the HP C8180, it has an attachment for scanning negatives and those old slides too. I found it a couple of weeks ago, used it a few times and it is pretty good.
It's one of those all in one printers, scan/copy/print. When you print to photo paper it burns through ink fast but other than that it is pretty good. Hooked up to my wireless network and I can print/scan to it through my Mac or laptop.
