SYE Install, what else is needed at the same time?

Lifted the cherokee and the vibrations are horrible so I just ordered the AA kit and driveshaft.

I've read up on the procedure online but what else do I need to replace while I've got the transfer case opened up?

1- new gaskets or just rtv?
2- I hadn't planned to replaced the chain but should I?
3- anything else I need to get so I'm not running to the parts store?

RTV is the way to go and a chain is not a bad idea but not really necessary. If you dont already have them a pair of lock ring pliers.

I wish i would have put a 2-low kit in while she was open, along with a wide chain and whatnot, but that's just me. -B

just did my sye 2day. you definitely need a good pair of snap ring pliers or it will kick your ass

If you have the money, a wide chain kit and 6 gear planetary are good upgrades. Also if you have alot of miles on it replacing the bearings and shaft seals is a good idea.

Since you're putting in an SYE, presumably to reduce driveshaft vibration, have you read this thread? http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=959008

You may want to check http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/pinion/pinion-1.htm for driveshaft angle information and http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoSYEconversion.htm for some other info - do you need shims to correct your pinion angle?

Thanks for the tips, some good and helpful ideas there.

I had already decided against the hack n tap and 'yes' I will need to shim the axle. I hadn't seen that stu-offroad link before and it was visually quite informative.

Looks like I've got a few other things to do before I can really afford dropping the cash on the t-case upgrades though, again thanks to all for the suggestions.
