....and was going to do the oil pan gasket (one piece) since things will be out of the way a little (leaking on the front side a little). Should I just do the rear main or leave it alone since it's doing it's job?

i would do it since your already there. they always seem to leak.well atleast all 4 of my jeeps have.. the one piece gaskets is way better imo then the multi piece.

Might as well replace it since you're already getting that far into it. It will only add a little more time to the messy job that you are. Heck, by the time you read this, the job could already be done. :)

It's done minus a stripped leaf spring bolt on on the front eyelet. Thanks.

Definitely believe that. One of was using a pickle fork to pry then the other was using an air ratchet and long wrench to get the thing out (torching it too). Ended up taking longer to do the rear end minus the oil pan gasket and rm seal up front.

Edit: Ended up going mild not wanting to do an SYE and driveshaft right now, but am disapointed given the lower starting point of the XJ in the first place. I attributed it to a worn suspension, but nope. Smell shackles and spacers in the near future. At least I have good lower control arms now to accomodate it.
