I got an e-mail from Edmunds.com a while ago that a reporter wanted to talk to jeep owners about DC producing sub-compacts, and maybe using the jeep brand on them. Well, I shot off my big mouth (keyboard) and damned if the guy didn't call me. His name was John O'Dell and he was very knowledgable. I explained my bias and my desire that Jeeps work like Jeeps rather than be cute, li'l, mall-crawlers, and talked to him for about half an hour about diesel engines, Tesla cars, Japanese innovations (he just returned from driving a bunch of pre-production stuff in Japan), muscle cars and why I think Cherokees were really about the best thing Jeep has done since the J series pick-up. He said that my comments might or might not be in the story, but it will run in the Sunday LA Times. It was so cool that he called all the way back to Michigan to talk to Joe Six-Pack (that's beer, not my abs, BTW.) about DC and their take on the American consumer!!

Wait for the article. I've been interviewed before. What got printed was nothing of what I said. I don't understand how they do it, but even though they're scribbling like crazy in their little note pads, what comes out in print is some of the weirdest chit. You read the article and you're either WTF! or WTH did he get that?!

I say wait for the article before you get too happy.

I happen to know the power utility ATC is spending over $10M/year in Michigan and Wisconsin. Good industry too....
