View Full Version : AW4 21-spline GREAT Condition w/New TC

I am selling a 21-spline AW4 transmission. It includes a basically brand new torque converter and has about 10,000 miles on it since being professionally rebuilt. The XJ it was in was occasionally driven on the street for about a year and then turned strictly into a trailer rig. I purchased this from a friend and really don't need it now since I'll be upgrading XJs soon.

I'll hold on to it before I sell it for dirt cheap. I don't need the cash, just don't need the tranny. It's worth what I'm asking so we'll see what happens.

Actually, I'll let it go for $150 but not a penny less.

After re-reading my first post, let me clarify that the whole tranny has about 10,000 miles on it, not the TC.

Lol.. I hear ya. Good luck with it. Maybe craigslist it. I gave mine away cause I really hate the fact that its taking up space in my shop, and it fits nothing I have.

Yeah, I REALLY hate this thing right now. I had it spill tranny fluid all over the garage floor and then moving it I thought I tore that ligament on the back of your foot. What a mess.

What year XJ was this pulled out of? I've got a '99 so just wondering if the TCU will plug in and function properly.

It's from an 87. Your input on the TC will not match up but the shaft can be easily swapped. If you need a good transmission, I'd contemplate swapping the shaft to use the tranny. (Honestly not trying to push a sale, it seems easier to adapt than to try and find another transmission in great shape)

Make me an offer on this. The more I look at it on my garage floor, the more I want it gone. Especially since I got the garage back to being all nice and clean!

Still for sale. Also, I don't see that I ever mentioned it's a 4wd transmission. I thought it was clear by saying it was on a trail rig, but I've had a few people ask. So yes, this is a 4wd transmission.
