Re-centering steering wheel?

Because I'm lazy and can NEVER remember what way to turn the turnbuckle before messing it up, what way do I turn the turnbuckle when the wheel is in the 10 o'clock position? Put the pipe wrench horizontal on top of the turnbuckle and twist down toward the axle or do I start vertical and twist up toward the front bumper?

Knowing this will save me a lot of grief tomorrow morning doing this alone!

It would depend upon whether you are using a left-handed or right-handed pipe wrench. And buy plenty of beer which always helps in avoiding grief associated with major auto repairs.

Just start with half a spin. If it don't work, go the other way. THEN have the beer, but don't drive till tomorrow. You'll forget and do it again.

Ended up flipping a coin on direction to spin it. Coin won, gave the bar a turn and the wheel is nearly 100% straight... maybe at 12:15 now
