Gathering parts for my '92

Longtime lurker. simple question.

I'm going to start gathering parts for a lift. I'd like to run 33's with enough room for flex and movement. This is NOT going to be a rockcrawler, just a reliable daily driver and a truck that'll see travel up to the lost coast, big bear, Anza-borrego, etc.

I'll admit the look is a deciding factor in what I like. I don't like overly tall rigs and I don't like excessively wide tires. I'll be going with 33x9.5x15 BFG AT's, just to have that in your mind, and I won't be cutting, though I might eventually add bushwackers, (though I've heard more bad than good about them.:looser:)

I've heard that a RE4.5 is good for the 33-35" tire range, and that most people wished they had gone long arms first. Has this been everyone's experience, that if I'm going over 3.5", that long arms are the way to go?

What is the best source of this kit when buying piece by piece?:dunno:

I want the best, and I want to do this once only.

thanks!

I suggest you look at the Rock Krawler 4.5" long arm kit. Go with the 4 link, not the 3 link.

x2

Rock Krawler 4.5" Long Arm Kit is a Great Kit IMHO for a Long Arm 4.5" Lift Kit to fit 33s with no cutting. Anything shorter in Lift will require some sort of cutting IMO. With 35s, even at 5"s of lift there must be Major Cutting to fit for Flex. I see no problem going to 35s with 5"s of Lift as long as the Front and Back Fenders are as Cut Out as they can be and I use Hockey Pucks or an RE Bumpstop Kit in the front and an Iron Rock 4x4 Truss with 2" Bumpstop Pads in the Rear. So, 33s at 4.5"s of Lift is no problem at all.

Personally, I love my 5" Short Arm Lift. If I was to do it again I would order these Parts:

ADJUSTABLE FRONT UPPER AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS $249.50

FRONT ADJUSTABLE TRACK BAR, CHEROKEE XJ $159.50

I would never go with Add-A-Leafs again. They usually Flatten Out in just a few months. Mine did.

Many Jeepers have had some problems with Axle Wrap and other Issues with the Cheaper Lift Leaf Springs.

BDS Leaf Springs have a Lifetime Warranty and Fantastic Flex. They are a little more but worth the cost in the long run.

004209 (2) Jeep XJ 3" Rear Leaf Spring $380.12 $190.06 each

********

U-Bolts from Auto Zone.

********

1.5/2.5" Shackles (RCX will do) The Longer the Shackle the more Flex you will have. It will allow the Leaf Spring to Elongate (stretch). $49.95

Hope this helps you out.
