I looked at a 4.0 today and it was trembling in the lower RPMs in and out of gear. The guy blamed in on a bad/cracked header. The engine sounded ALRIGHT but not great, no knocking, maybe some head ticking...
thoughts?

keep looking. i know the excitement may almost be too great to bare, but keep looking. you can find one in the 1500-3000 range with very little if any major problems.
just trying to save you a headache in the future.

Thanks for the input and I agree... the issue is not patience however. It's more that this is a legitimately good truck except for that issue. If it's just a header problem, that's something I can fix myself. I just can't connect any kind of exhuast leak to trumbling in the block. It felt like it had rod knock... without the sound of rod knock.
I'm super confused. At any rate, if I don't get any further input, I'll be forced to pass. I would have to agree that it would be a dim purchase without knowing what's causing the trembling.
