I just got this in an email, have not read all of it, but:

Concerning the Blair-Holt proposed legislation: Senate Bill SB-2099 will
require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have
or own. It may require finger prints and a tax of $50 per gun.

In November, our lying president promised he was not going after our Second
Amendment rights. This bill was introduced on Feb. 24. This bill will become
public knowledge 30 days after it is voted into law. This is an amendment to
the Internal Revenue Act of 1986.. This means that the Finance Committee can
pass this without the Senate voting on it at all.

Congress is now starting on the firearms confiscation bill. If it passes,
gun owners will become criminals if you don't fully comply. It has
started...

Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the
House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of
2009.

Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because the government is
trying to fly it under the radar.

Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a
clip or ANY pistol unless:

It is registered -You are fingerprinted -You supply a current Driver's
License -You supply your Social Security # - You will submit to a physical &
mental evaluation at any time of their choosing - Each update change or
ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25 -
Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are
subject up to a year in jail. - There is a child provision clause on page 16
section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and
inaccessible to any child under 18. They would have the right to come and
inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to
children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison...

If you think this is a joke - go to the website and take your pick of many
options to read this. It is long and lengthy. But, more and more people are
becoming aware of this. Pass the word along. Any hunters in our family pass
this along.

This is just a "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and
disarming of our society to the point we have no defense - chip away a
little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes
it.

This is one to act on whether you own a gun or not.

If you take my gun, only the criminal will have one to use against me. HR 45
only makes me/us less safe.

Anything, ANYTHING the government does to make gun owners have to register in anyway is a gateway to more restrictions and the eventual confiscation of your weapons.

Its not about what you do with the guns.

Its about control.

Make no mistake. This is how it will happen.

Register guns - people will not want the hassle and won't have guns.
The people that do. will have to continually put up with stricter control until its so hard to own them that they give up.

Once the guns are under Government control the people no longer have the ability to stand up for them selves.

Taking guns away from people is the first action needed to use them on the people.

HR 45 has a snowball's chance in h3ll of passing. I'm a lot more concerned about CIFTA, an interamerican treaty Clinton Sr. did about 12 years ago but was never ratified by the Senate. Obama has apparently latched onto it, and after he came back from his last trip to Mexico he started pushing for the senate to ratify it.
If I understand it correctly, it creates a mandatory gun registry, and SHARES it with the other signatories to the treaty. This includes Mexico, so we can be sure that the cartels will have copies of the list within a month of the mexican government receiving it...

The gun laws here are pretty strict, the people so inclined, usually use alternative methods, like knives and arson.
Though to tell you the truth, a hundred miles from here (in the Czech Republic) a guy tried to sell me a mint M-3 (WW II vintage) in a restaurant full of patrons.
I'm waiting for some family to sue the government, because their family members died in an arson fire laid for another person. The argument being, if the guy had a gun, he would likely have killed his intended target, instead of everybody in the damned house. Most every week you hear of a bunch of people (often children) dieing in an arson fire set by some guy upset with his wife.
If a person has a nail to hammer and you take the hammer away, most people with at least two brain cells to rub together, will come up with an alternative.
If some goat herder in the back hills of Gofukyustan, can dream up a way, no doubt others can too.

We had a saying in the military that would fit many of the legislators in Washington, "ate up with the dumb act". See I told you so, gun crime is down, they never tell you the flip side of the story, automobile assaults up, knifing up, arson up, bricks falling from the sky up.

It is the sneak attack approach, back door thing that worries me. I don't think it would survive daylight if it made there either, but what if the Health care bill debate is used by a few anti gun people to slip this past everyone when no one is watching. After all everyone is being led to focus on the heath care debate right now, what better time to sneak out the back door. Then we may be screwed.

While I have mixed feelings about out of control access to guns by criminals, and psychos, I think it is stupid to create public records of where all the guns are for criminals to use in burglaries and for oppressive governments to use to take away the peoples arms.

Great, then we have nothing to worry about. You guys keep up with this topic (gun regulation) far more than I do, and I am inclined to agree with you on this one, that most do not want their name on it, but isn't that what this was about, that most would not directly have their name on it, instead it would magically show up too late on a huge finance funding bill in the fine print?

Not a problem. I got it from a guy I do a lot of business with, and it was the first time he ever brought up gun control in the 15 years I have known him. So I posted it where I knew I could either get the real facts, or warn guys that would be outraged by it enough to try and stop it.

People get on an agenda and get ate up with it. You think better minds than mine have thought this thing through. Wrong, there is a whole litany of laws that were passed trying to correct the unforeseen consequences of the last law passed or the one before that, that was passed to correct the flaws of the one before that. It's called manic activity, with a good dose of arrogance tossed in.
I could probably sight a long list of examples, ran into one today. They passed a law discouraging building anything that interrupted the flow of rainwater into the earth, the ground water was becoming depleted. They actually taxed it. Then they encouraged everybody to build cisterns to catch runoff, to save using piped water for unnecessary tasks. They actually gave a tax rebate. Then they forbid the overflow from the cistern to be put back into the earth, because the sewers weren't self scouring from lack of water and imposed a $15,000 fine for non compliance. Sewer system and the water table were doing just fine until the intervention, had been acceptably plus or minus for a hundred years or more, with a few bumps.
Relevance is, you can try to control it at the source, or at the user, even at the waste outlet. Trying to bring millions of people into compliance with threats, taxes and fines seems like the poorest solution of all. Seems like a much greater chance for an unhappy outcome that way and a whole list of unforeseen consequences to pop up.
Governments seem incapable of learning from there past mistakes and the new batch always seems to think they know better than the last batch. They pass a whole new batch of laws to correct the last batches flaws. Where if the sons of batches just left things the heck alone, most citizens would find acceptable solutions for themselves.

If you think playing somebody else's game by their rules is the way to win. Or alienating people who basically agree with you. Go for it.
I log on and post nasty grams to my representative in Washington at regular intervals, but try not to let that limit my options.
There are many sides to any argument, for, against and sideways to name a few. Some people just get locked into bi polar scenarios. I try to avoid that trap and not to narrow my options any more than necessary.
I'm a lifetime NRA member, but even that doesn't mean I'm going to follow the party line with blind devotion.
