Is there supposed to be a dent in the pipe rite after the flange out of the manifold. Looks like some one used a wrench on it bent in about 1/4 in or so.
 
I read somewhere that this is where the exhaust pipe made contact with the front diff(?). During some "off road" adventure I am sure. :roflmao:
 
I believe they are all like this stock.
 
dent is to clearance the front driveshaft.

benefit, not on a stock exhuast. if you get a higher flow header, you'll want a new downpipe (dented piece) higher flowing header with stock restrictive downpipe = waste of money (IMO)

get a new, mandrel bent downpipe to replace the dented one.
 
My header came with a new downpipe, minus a bend. It appears some do not come with one.
 
There will be a difference, whether its major or not is the thing. Depends on mods also. But any restriction is a restriction.
