Just wondering what most would rather be doing, wrenching or wheeling. I really get a kick out of being in the garage with one of my sons helping me with tools and asking questions. I love wheelin, with them also, all three. It's pretty close for me, there's a great sence of satisfaction after finishing a project , but then seeing that project pay off on the trails is pretty awesome, too. I honestly think a like wrenching more, just barely.

I think I like the building and fabbing as much as wheelin. It's always nice to be able to say that you did all the work on your rig yourself.

i like wheeling i mean dont get me wrong i LOVE working on my jeep, but the reason i work on my jeep is so it will work on the trail i love seeing my jeep perform over something i put together and work on. Without wheeling i wouldnt build it.

Without building it I wouldn't wheel it. But I bought my XJ stock and it was the wheeling that got me into the wrenching, beyond routine maintenance I mean. When I was a kid I loved pulling my bike apart, greasing up the bearings, putting it all back together. I guess it's just the same thing, but the parts are more expensive now. :repair:

A good balance of both would make me happy. I've spent WAY too much time wrenching compared to my "trail" time. 99.9% of my driving is on the street.

No problem, I think this weekend is cool. I've put some hood vents in, put some DPG rear bump stops on, which I have to take back off to put on the s-10 leafs I got on ebay. I've also got a gas tank skid to put on. Two years ago I made a list of everything I wanted to do to my Cherokee, mod wise. Everything got crossed off that list and I'm like two lists down the road.

I like doing both, but it is so nice just to be able to jump in the jeep and go.

No way. Wheeling is why I wrench.
I much prefer wheeling.

X2, wrenching under only a carport roof kinda sucks compared to a nice, dry, heated garage.

you think your so fancy with your carport. Hell I wish i had a carport and something bigger than our 5x5 "shop" so full of crap you can barely stand in it.

There's nothing worse than wrench or fabbing on my junk when I could be wheeling.

i ahve access to this little building to spin wrenches in. three bays, air movers for the summer, insulated in the winter, air tools yada yada yada. last time i had work to do on the heep i fit the jeeps and a tahoe into the first bay, the forklift makes the axle swaps a lot easier too :D

I love wrenching. I admit I dont get to do it much, but I think a oil bath is more fun then a mud bath. I havent done much work at my house since my dad things working on vehicles is a bad idea so I just go out of town to where a buddy works.
Six bay garage, one painting booth, all I can use tools as long as I clean them. Hardware if I forget to bring something up. Also the fact I dont have to pay to dispose of my oil is great, because they just put it into the heater for the winter months.
Here'e the look on my face after spending 9.5 hours replacing my rear main seal. First engine work I have ever done in my life. I still had to drive 50miles back home.

If i could buy a built rig, that wouldnt break, that I would only have to pull off the trailer to empty the cooler and garbage, then put back on the trailer...
that would be Ideal...

Opie with your "skill" you'd break a rig running rockwells and 32s
