Sorry for the poor picture quality, but I was hoping that someone would be able to ID this axle for me.

I appreciate the link, but I also only have the pictures to compare. I found it in a junkyard a little over an hour from my home.
It's from an 89 4x4 XJ and I had the hope that it's a 44.
When I compare it with my own (Dana 35) and another axle I found there (also a 35) I think they look different, but I don't really want to drive that far just to find out that this one also is a 35.

I would appreciate any help you guys would give me.

Do you see th upslope on the passenger side? That lets me think it is a 44, but I can't say for sure because of the angle. I call it a 44, but retain my right to be wrong.

As you can see the 44 cover is shaped like a stop sign.

My guess was also that it's a 44. I will probably head up there again this coming Saturday and this time bring tools and get a better look.
