I just have a little question, but what is the purpose of having a crapload of shocks on the front or rear of a truck? The other night I was driving home and I believe a 99-up F-350 drove next to me. His hood was higher than my roof I think, and I'm sitting on 32s with 4.5" of lift.
The weird thing was, he had 6 shocks up front. Three per side. What's the point in that other than bling? Thanks.

When he hits speed bumps at the mall, it won't bounce up and down

You should have cut if front of him, and brake checked him.

My 1985 F-250 had the same set up, Was it a diesel? The V-8 diesel in the fords is one heavy Mofo. Off-road it took all six to keep that heavy bastard under control.

Yeah it was a diesel, I think the Powerstroke. I just thought it might have been overkill to have 6 shocks up front. I've seen 4 but never 6.
I think I should build a shock hoop for the rear of my Jeep since the leaf springs are stiff and it bounces a lot. Probably mount up like 8 Bilstein 5150s in the rear. It already sits stinkbug so I could show off that bling.

I have an 86 F-250 but with a 460. Do you have any pics of your 85 with the shocks? I am just curious what it looks like on that era :).

Well, I won't say the guy with the superduty is out wheeling but this guy runs 3 shocks per wheel (front and rear..... 12 total!!) and wheels it hard. I have to say this is old school design and not the norm for new rigs.

I will look, I sold it to my brother so I can take a few pics if I can't find any.

It looked good.

Amazing things happen when folks have more money (or credit) than brains. A MasterCard in the hands of the wrong Bro can really create some oddities. :)

I've seen 4 shocks and I know they make dual shock hoops for trucks, I've just never seen triple shock hoops. Seems like pretty soon these guys will order 16 shocks for 1 truck.

I have seen several of them. I pulled them out when they were buried up to their frame with my little Jeep! :D

The shocks ar just for looks. I have a Powerstroke Excursion and it doesn't matter how many shocks you have, the curb weight is still 8000#.

Regardless of the myth, dual shocks do not help pull your boat out of the water any better.

I live in Yorba Linda, and everybody has a lifted diesel with dual shocks. Pretty lame actually. That's why I bought an XJ. You can actually go off-roading in it.

Its for desert running the more shocks you have helps soak up high speed bumps and also doesnt work one shock as much. evens the work load out. Its also suppose to keep the shocks running cooler when the work is spread out over multiple shocks. Its only suppose to be for high speed desert running. But some people love bling :wow:

Would having two shocks per side help with a stiff rear end? My leaf packs are quite stiff but I'd like to keep it that way, but the bad part is that it doesn't "soak up" anything.

You're gonna need a softer set of springs to take care of that. You might be able to soften them up by removing a leaf but that might lower it slightly.
