So who went skiing this weekend?
A Basin and Loveland were open this weekend. Group of friends and I went to A Basin and had a blast even though it was only one run open. Lift got really crowded, so we left.
Anyone else go for opening weekend?:gee:

Ok I grew up in Woodland and the Springs, so mock me now.
I have never been snowboarding, skiing or anything of the sort.
Yes I know I'm a horrible person. We were poor growing up what can I say? lol! One day I swear, I wanna go really bad!

I went to Loveland for opening weekend once. ONCE. it was torture. I love to snowboard but not THAT much.
glad you had fun though. I usually wait until after Warren Miller comes to town before I get fired up.

I'm lookin to get some good sledding in this season. Nothin' like grabbin' hold of a big fat inner tube and lettin' her rip. Last year I'd pull the Misses slowly behind my 250 all the way up to the top of our street that always froze over and let her slide down. That was before I tasted pavement on the motard though. :wow: This year she's hoofin it.

this is a little off topic but in alot of ski / snowboard vids there is a concrete spillway kind of thing along a road? wish i could find some pics but it looks like its in CO. i saw someone sliding down it on a snowboard and there is another one where the water goes over a manmade wall and freezes that they jump off and land on the frozen ice/ snow at the bottom (maybe 20 feet) just thought someone might know where im talking about ... or have no clue..
thanks

Went up to Velocity in Silverton and hiked up and got 3 runs in. Was thinking about going up North but too pricey for 1 run. I'll stick with the backcountry for now.

Me too.
Grew up in Billings, red lodge used to be something like 22 bucks on mondays.
Pay too much, drive too far, fight traffic, wait in lines? No thanks.

I would've went, but our dumbass janitor at the paper threw away my perfectly good snowboard.:dunno::confused:
A Burton Custom 156 w/Mission Bindings. About 700 bucks worth of board down the drain because he was a dumbass :looser:. Can't figure out why? We live in a ski town, everyone skis/rides, and everyone leaves their skis at work to take lunch runs or hit it when it's a pow-pow day.
Paper says they'll buy me a new one. Like I'm holding my breath.
On a good note: we got a shitload of snow overnight.

Yeah love the fact of waking up to everything covered in white powder all over the place. we got like 8" since yesterday! so we should organize some XJ ski/board M&G. Not a fan of driving up to Denver but if its to ride, I'd consider it. Is Copper still planning on opening early November? Oh yeah just checked, 11.3!
Sucks about the snowboard, if you need a temp board I am pretty sure I have something decent round the Aframe. We seem to collect boards like people collect gnomes, they just show up for some reason..

BTW, A Basin doesnt let you camp in their parking lot. There is a turn off a couple hundred feet before their entrance that has a couple cement barriers that we camped at. It was right after a snow plow building. It worked fairly well. Kind of loud with the plows going by all night, but other then that, worked for us. :dunce:

Thanks for the headsup. I will avoid the A-basin parking lot.

Skiid A-Basin yesterday and today. Pretty crowded but nevertheless nice for the first runs of the season.

Should have gone to Loveland. Lines were maybe 5 min. Maybe.
Had to cut our weekend short because of medical reasons, but it was fun nontheless.
