The younger crowd most likely will not remember him but I grew up listening to his nightly news reports. The best anchor man ever IMHO, he could always put things into laymen's terms.

It's very sad that so much attention was\is being given to a pervert (Jackson) and so little to a "true icon" as grimmjeeper said. At least he lived a long and productive life that did not end in scandal.
