What: Fun wheelin, where you fellas who need to advance your skills can do such. Camping and getting to know whos who.

Who: Members or users of NAXJA. If you want to bring a friend and thier rig, post that up also, and you will be responsible for thier actions.

When/Where: October 14th and 15th at Tahuya State Forest, outside of Belfair, both Saturday and Sunday. Take I-5 to Tacoma. Follow signs to Hwy 16 to Bremerton. Once you see Aircraft Carriers and other grey monoliths (you will now be in Bremerton), take Hwy 3 to Belfair. Follow the signs that lead to Tahuya State Forest. For those of you coming on Saturday, I can meet you at Safeway around 1:00pm. For those of you who want to join on Sunday, I can meet you at Safeway around 8:00AM, and leave around 8:30am. Im sure thier are better directions out there, but if anyone wants post up them too.

Plan on camping, if you want. It may be wet and rainy, but thats what tarps are for. Bring your own food and supplies and such too. This is open to Members and users alike.

....and????

Since you asked, here are the boring details.

Everybody is talking about being on channel 4. My antenna got ripped off at Evans. The Jeep went from first priority, to last. To avoid the deranged comments, YES the Jeep was a priority. But a few things pissed me off and it has been put on the back burner.

So business first, Beyond an overly needed Brake job, fender flair removal and Wash Job, I am done with the Jeep until I get back around to it.

I picked up a magnetic antenna with a 1 ft whip from GIJoes for $25. I had a problem with ripping mine off too. This gets knocked off all the time but it goes right back on. Just run the line out your door weatherstripping temporarily.

Went to Tahuya today. Just got back. Looks like Camp Spillman is the place to be. Enough room. I may leave friday after work, to get a few spots. Campfires are allowed too.

Bring an air matress or some padding, ground looks hard and somewhat rocky. Trails are about the same as last noobfest, but dry. Easy for a stocker with street tires.

CanMan
October 12th, 2006, 23:38
I can meet people at Safeway at 10am and 1pm.
I am going to get there early(7am or so) to get a couple spots, but the area is perty big, so finding space shouldn't be a problem.
Since it has been cold out the mornings of the last week, bring stuff to keep warm. Weather forcasts rain for Sunday, which is when the 'main' run will take place.
I will bring some firewood, but everyone else it welcome to contribute to that.
Bring food too.

People who are coming Sunday, breakfast at Jimmy D's? Everyone camping down for that?
If not, Ill be at Safeway around 8am, And Leaving around 8:30.

Directions for those who come later on in the Day on Saturday.

Take I-5 to(ward) Tacoma, Washington.
Follow signs that lead to SR16.
Follow until you see signs that will lead you towards Belfair.
Once on HWY3, you will know your in Belfair, because there will be a train bridge you drive under saying "Welcome to Belfair".
A half mile more and the town is there.
The Safeway will be on your Right hand side.
Once in town, Take a right at your FIRST stop light, HWY300, which will later turn into NE Shore road.
Go straight throught the 4 way stop sign.
Follow that until you come to Belfair Tahuya RD, Take a right up the hill.
Follow until you see Elfendahl Pass road. Take a right.
Follow signs Ill put up. They will be on paper plates, saying NAXJA NWC RUN.

If anyone gets lost, you can call me on my Cell phone, and I can run back into town to meet. 253-332-3809.

Thanks, and hope to see you all there!

PS. Here is a good map of the place. You can study it, as it leads from Belfair to Camp Spillman. Tuhuya State Forest Map (PDF) (http://visitkitsap.com/pdfs/tahuya_both.pdf).

Hey, no biggie. I talked to PoSxJ on my way home and he said there's no hurry. I also talked with Matt and he said he might be able to bring 'em down on his next trip to Portland, for a little "compensation". Which, I hope to god, means beer; but, you never really know... :D

For those that helped me with my own "situation" at Tahuya, I thank you again, and again, and again... I got home, turned off my Jeep, then attempted to turn it back on. Nothing. I decided to peek under the hood once more and found my battery leaking out of it's case onto the ground below. Safe to say that battery is shot. And, as an added bonus; whenever I would turn my headlights on, my stereo would momentarily shut off, then turn itself back on. Any ideas???

So did the stock rigs (besides that pickup) run in another group?

Nope, I don't think that one was even stock. Could be wrong.

Felt pretty crappy here, so the camerra never made it out of the Jeep. Even though I wasn't supposed to drive, Danielle didn't want to.

Did everyone take off before the Sami started playing in the rocks? Fun to watch.

Since it is late and I am bored:
On the way home, I think it was Port Orchard? We pulled in behind a State Patrol car heading towards Tacoma. I think the exit he got off at was for Purdy. There had been a Red Mitsu Glant (the crappy OZ version) on my ars. As soon as the Stater pulled off, he zipped around, and then slowed down. Took off, zipped through a few cars here and there and slowed back down to block up traffic. The guy was being a Sh!T. Seemed as he was trying to pick a fight/race with a passenger and three kids in the back seat. I like driving fast in the GLH, so I usually pay no attention to fast drivers. BUT, this guy was trying to push a fight. So we called the State Patrol. Told them what was going on and where I was (the exit where I lost sight of him) and an officer called me back asking for further details. By the time we get off the phone I am well through Tacoma on I-5. Danielle and I are thinking the call is worthless, but the guys driving was SO irritating. As we are driving through Yelm the officer calls me again to say that the driver was found and appropriate actions were taken. We could not believe they jumped on this and were able to find the driver in that time. We talked for a few minutes and I felt extremely weird as the officer was thanking me for calling the issue in.

Anyway,

Later
Jason

Here's a link to my first attempt with a dv camera, editing and posting on Google. This mostly shows someone I haven't met yet on the rocks with IXNAYXJ spotting for him. There's also a little bit of 12GAXJ hung up on a rock. Quality goes down on Google I would assume due to compression. If the person in the video is interested and has a fast connection I can email a larger file if you pm me. I'll try to edit some more and post it soon. Anyone know of another free hosting service that's better than Google?

So, FiFo had the squealing belt?

Ok, Good to meet ya, kinda, didn't really.

Something else to bring up about a short conversation on Sunday morning.
Got pulled over tonight on Pacific Ave in Tacoma by a Stater. He gave me a warning for my License plate light being out (which it was not, checked it when I got home). And told me I had to get mudflaps. Didn't say anything about the fender trim.
