Ok so I want to put this out there and see how many people might be interested. Wanting to get together and head out to TSF, clean a trail or two then hit the trails for some fun. Maybe even set this up to be a over night trip do some night time trail suns and have a little fun the next morning then pack up and head back to our homes.
Not to sure on a date yet want to see how many will be willing to go do this. If willing and wanting to go or have input about this lets hear it.

Trail cleanups are always a good idea, check with the forest service and get them in on it (or whoever manages that land), they will want to see wheelers doing good things.

I see plenty of beer cans, bottles, cigarette butts, miscellaneous "targets" left at impromptu shooting ranges, etc... The bulk of this stuff may not be left right on the wheeling runs - they may be just off the main roads, but it's makes us look bad all the same - how many of the rangers are driving the full length of Cedar Tree or Archers in their long box crew cabs? None. We need to be just as concerned about the access/fire roads as that's likely where they're getting their impressions of us.
Anyway, I'm game to do a bit of cleanup/wheeling/camping. But yeah, I agree with you Scott - the trails are typically pretty clean - save for a few drivetrain parts around Can Opener, Waterfall, Little Rubicon, etc... ;)

Well when I say trail clean up not really refering to just a trail thinking more any place that needs some cleaning out there and there is plenty.
I was thinking of Labor day weekend head up Fri night get camp set up, do some night wheeling, get up in morning and do some cleaning then some more wheeling, maybe another night run or two, wheel a little sun morning and then pack up and head home. Getting home with one more day left off is nice to relax and get ready for the week.
Not to sure on Labor day yet though have to see what is happening with my new copilot, not sure if she is going camping with her grandperants or not yet. Should know before this weekend.
Wasn't to sure about labor day, not sure how any one feels about going out there that weekend I'm sure there is going to be a lot of people out there. So let me know what you all think. I'm really hoping to get a good size group together for this.

Agree deffinately contact ODF before you organize somthing like this CJ. I hate to say it but if someone magically cleans up he trails, there really isn't any pay back. And i don't mean to you, i mean to the 4 wheeling community. Also report whatever man hours that are logged to the Chapter BOD.

and as for the trails looking good . . . . i gotta say BS ! ! ! ride shotgun with someone sometime and just look off the trails 2-3 feet. when my jeep was injured i road shot with Keith and we couldn't believe how many beer cans etc... we counted just in a .25 mile section or FB5.
Great idea though

Tentatively in. I'm still hoping I can get a run in July. Gotta fill the quota. :D
X2 on the trail litter. I think the majority of the trails are in good shape regarding overgrowth, erosion control, and illegal bypasses. Litter on the other hand could definitely use some attention. After the SOLV clean-up I started carrying a bag in the back seat to throw trash in. After every run it's nearly full! That's pretty sad when you compare that to Naches. After five days all I picked up was a pop can and a styrofoam cup from the trails.
Plan a date and I'll try and make it. Late July or early August should work.

How about a long term project CJ?
You could head up a group to help coordinate a trail clean up / adoption. I was looking at the trails list today, for a run this sunday.
This has been there for a while
#10 University Fire Power Trail- The section of the trail between Beaver Dam Road and University Falls Road is temporarily closed due to winter storm damage. An old puncheon culvert was damaged and the trail over the old puncheon culvert is eroded to the point that it is impassable to all vehicle traffic. A new culvert will need to be installed. No timeline has been set for repair work. The rest of University Firepower Trail is open.
Perhaps we get an effort going to restore the culvert? and get that trail back open. There are enough of us, that we should be able to raise some cash, some time and get it done.

You know what you took the thoughts right out of my head. I was wanting to get something started to adopt a trail in the name of NAXJA just wasn't sure if anyone would be willing to join me on this. So lets get a thread started and see what we can do.
