Are shock boots necesary? I forgot to pick some up with my new shocks and want to know if it will hurt them if I run the uncovered?

No, not necessary. I only run them on shocks with the 'can' on the top side. Have pulled many apart in shop that died due to mud and crap riding the shaft seal...trapped in by the boot.
What kind of shocks did you end up getting to go with your lift?

I have actually been told that it is better NOT to put them on. They keep dirtand grime in and can hurt the shock.

I ended up getting the cheep RE twintubes.

Don't put the shock boots on your shocks. Save them for your driveshaft slip yokes.
