it is a super rare phenomenon. So rare that if you google sonic boom and look at the pictures you see it everywhere, on a veriety of different aircraft ranging for a RAF Tornado to an F-15. So understudied that the day in class we had devoted to this phenomenon must have been completely made up since they did not have the data till now. I definatly do not see a very similar phenomenon when the Blue angles fly sudden heading changes at high rates of speed...
