I replaced my CAT (old one was no longer being supported and rattling around) and have my stock cat laying around. Are there any places that will take a CAT and recycle it and pay me a little $$?
I also have the whole exhaust system (from the manifold back) that I need to get rid off. will the same place take the rest of the exhaust and how much would I expect to get?
Thanks!

Way back when I was a youngn', I worked for a tire and exhaust shop. We had an old truck out back that we would put all the exhaust systems in that had been cut out and replaced. Once it was full, I would drive it down to MCR Recycling on Geneva Road to have it emptied. I forget my point... ...Oh yeah! Any scrap metal place should be able to take it and give you some money.

Well just an update, I called Western Metals in SLC and they no longer take CAT's. I called MCR and they still do, so I guess I will take a trip sometime... YEA 30 min ROAD TRIP!!!

So, what is the scrap value of an old cat?

They said it ranges from $3 to $30 and that they could only tell me when I bring it in and after they look at it.

The scrap yard in Ogden that I have taken several cars and old Jeep bodies told me they pay about the same. I can't remember the name of the place.
They are worth quite a bit. There is a reason they are getting stolen out of wal-mart parking lots.

The place Israel mentioned MCR Recycling.... on the yellow pages only one place came up in Salt Lake City and when they said they dont take cats I thought I would see if the place Israel had fond childhood memories at was still around and they are and still taking cats.

thats why places around the US are now no longer taking cat's from individual owners. Most only take them through exhaust shops since they know the muffler store is not going around at night cutting off cats
